Mercedes GP boss Norbert Haug believes his team will not be in the pursue for a podium at the opening round of the season in Bahrain. Michael Schumacher just said he expects to be war at the front of the field, but Haug has warned that top-three results will not be likely awaiting afterward rounds. Mercedes GP appeared to be just off the speed of the face runners in pre-season testing and team principal Ross Brawn has admitted that it is putting its confidence in car upgrades to hold up with Ferrari, McLaren motorsport and Red Bull Racing. The Norbert’s estimation, we will not face for the podium in the first few races, but we will absolutely show up afterwards, Haug added. Judging our competitiveness for the first pair of races, my feeling is that we are not fairly where we want to be and I would not see our team in the role of favorites. Having said that, I am completely persuaded that the whole team and our drivers Nico and Shumi are fully set to get on top of our job and fulfill our aim which are winning races and fighting for world championships. But, Nico has self-assurance in the new car and believes the gains the team made at the final test, joint with the update for the first race will make it a front runner.
And Haug said-we did have some concerns that we were not able to discover the right way to take out the maximum likely from the car, but by working hard we were able to find our way and broken testing on a high, he added. We also have a good improve coming for Bahrain GP which should build up the car additional and so I am fairly hopeful that we will do well. Bahrain GP is a track which I truly enjoy so it should be a good start to the season each and every one.
