Vettel happy to position speedy lap

Sebastian Vettel was pleased to have managed a speedy enough lap in Canadian GP qualifying on Saturday after making a error and missing the final chance on his first true attempt. Starting third, Vettel was powerless to move ahead of Lewis Hamilton or Mark Webber but was, for a short number of seconds, looking to start on the front row after being a upsetting ninth heading into the last minute.

"It was a pretty entertaining last session, in Q3 especially," the German smiled. "We went out on the hard (Medium compound) tyres and they take a while to come in.

"We didn't get a clean lap until the last lap, so not perfect timing, but I think I should have a good start - I'm starting on the inside, so let's see what we can do. "Especially after yesterday's practice we've seen that the soft (Super Soft compound) tyre is a bit difficult to last just a couple of laps."
