Nigel Mansell has been taken to hospital after crashing within minutes of the start of the Le Mans 24-Hour. His Ginetta-Zytek emerged to suffer a left-rear puncture and it hit the barriers after Mulsanne Corner nose-first at close to 200mph.
He appeared to be conscious when removed from the vehicle and was carried on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance. The Beechdean Mansell-run LMP1 Ginetta-Zytek was being driven by Mansell and his two sons, Leo and Greg.
