Jenson Button: McLaren will be powerful in Melbourne

Jenson Button is self-confident that the McLaren F1 team will be challenging faster to the front of the field after a varied start to the season in Bahrain at the weekend. Following qualifying eighth in the Middle East, the World Champion completed seventh whereas title forerunner and co-driver Lewis Hamilton made the podium. After a comparatively calm race in which he was compressed both Ferrari and Mercedes cars as well as Sebastian Vettel and Hamilton, Button acknowledged his dissatisfaction as he became the fourth successive title owner not to win the first race of his title defensive movement.

I didn't think, going into qualifying, that Lewis would be fourth on the grid and I would be eighth, Jenson acknowledged to the British press news. I thinking it would be very close - but Lewis did an improved job and he was faster. I was not satisfied with the car that I had in qualifying and there are areas in which I really need to improve so that it suits my style of driving, but my confidence has not been dented.

Button is too confident that McLaren's MP4-25 will handle improved next time out. In Melbourne GP there are unhurried corners but it's not this in fact, really slow, second-gear twisty sections, he continuous. I believe the car will work better there it’s much faster than it optional in qualifying.
