Perez pleased with unexpected podium


Sauber speedy Sergio Perez admits that he was not expected today podium, the Mexican start from the 15th on the grid and finish final place of the podium.

Perez claimed his second successive podium, when he settled his first podium in Malaysian GP and today he finished third position with Sauber’s perfect single-stop strategy and hot track condition.

Sergio start with soft compound and he made a long run with this compound and pitted 42th lap of the race, Vettel’s late pit stop and Alonso slow-lap helped him and successively finish third for Canadian Grand Prix.

"When you start 15th on the grid, you don't expect to get a podium finish," Perez said in post-race press.

"We went off very aggressively, and I managed to overtake a few cars with some difficult manoeuvres.

"The tyre degradation was not bad for me, and I managed to keep moving up the field.

"After such a bad day yesterday, when we had so much trouble with the brakes, this was a great boost for the team."
