The duo escaped fines or penalties, Williams speedy Maldonado was blocked Heikki Kovalainen’s Caterham in Q1, whereas the HRT of de la Rosa blocked Maldonado’s team-mate Bruno Senna in the same phase of qualifying.
"It was unnecessary for Pastor,” Kovalainen had told Sky Sports. “I was on a hot lap, he was on an out-lap and weaving all over the back straight. He had no intention of letting me by. I think it was a rookie mistake and he might have to pay for that. He then made sure he had a good gap to start his lap.”
