Ricciardo fastest in rain hit FP1 for British GP


Toro Rosso’s Daniel Ricciardo set fastest lap-time in rain interrupted first practice session at the British Grand Prix.

In the final twenty minutes running, Ricciardo set first timed lap, and final few laps attempts gives him fastest lap-time in the first free practice time-sheet.

Many drivers’ just concluded the installation lap and go-back to the pits in the final session of opening practice. Even as 12 others did not set a timed lap.

Lewis Hamilton the only driver set timed lap from the top contenders, one stage he led in the time-sheet. Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg set second fastest lap ahead of Williams Pastor Maldonado and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.

Sauber second speedy Esteban Gutierrez set fifth fastest ahead of Williams’ Valtteri Bottas and Toro Rosso’s Jean-Eric Vergne.

Charles Pic the only man crashed from the tricky session lost the rear of his Caterham in the final corner and spun into the barrier, damaging his front wing.

Giedo van der Garde set eighth quickest ahead of Marussia’s duo Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa completed the eleventh fastest in the tricky session.
