F1 court: Mercedes banned from 2013 F1 young driver test

After the seven-hour trial at the FIA's headquarters in Paris on Thursday, and today noon F1 court announced that Mercedes has been banned from 2013 young driver test, and given a reprimand.

Formula 1 official tyre provider Pirelli was also reprimanded relating this case. Mercedes was breached regulations for using a 2013 car during Pirelli testing after Spanish Grand Prix.

International Tribunal panel of Edwin Glasgow, Christy Harris, Patrick Raedersdorf and Anthony Scott Andrews heard arguments that Mercedes and Pirelli had brought the sport into disrepute.

Mercedes' legal representative Paul Harris said: "[The young driver test] is a three-day test, and it is a car test over which teams have full control and teams know everything about the tyres and cars.

"If we are in this territory then it is open to the International Tribunal to impose exclusions from events that are under FIA jurisdiction, and the young driver test is that."

2013 Formula 1 young driver test takes place on July 17-19.
