F1 boss: Europe will lose a couple of races


Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says that Europe will lose a couple of Formula One races and also warned Monza (Italian Grand Prix) being one of the European circuit under risk.

During an interview with Italian magazine Panorama Ecclestone has warned that more European races could be axe from the calendar.

Currently seven European circuit embrace with Formula One calendar Barcelona, Monte-Carlo, Silverstone, the Nürburgring, the Hungaroring, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza. Sochi (Russian GP) New Jersey and Grand Prix in Thailand will enter the sport in next two years, following European circuit will terminate from the schedule.

"It is possible that Europe will lose a couple of races in favour of emerging markets, If we do lose Monza, and I say if, because no decision has yet been taken, it would only be for economic reasons. Of course, the quality of the circuit and the organisation could be better, but - I repeat - is not the crucial point." Ecclestone commented
