Pirelli: No tyre tweak in Canadian Grand Prix

Pirelli confirmed that they will not introduce new compound for Canadian Grand Prix and they will be providing revised specification tyres in Friday’s free practice sessions only in Canada.

Super-soft and medium compounds are early set for Canadian Grand Prix and modified tyres will be debut in next month’s British Grand Prix.

Pirelli say the new compound is designed “to prevent any instances of the tread detaching itself from the structure”.

However they added “the performance and wear characteristics of the new tyre will not be significantly different, with the aim of keeping up the spectacle and retaining a strategic element to all the races”.

"I did it like the old days," the Formula 1 Chief Executive was quoted by Germany's Auto Motor und Sport. "I told the teams that they should be united.

"Pirelli will modify its tyres as planned," he added.
