Mercedes unpleasant with lose long-term customer McLaren


Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team executive director Toto Wolff has admitted that it’s displeased with long-term engine customer McLaren decision to change their engine supplier and to new link up declare with Honda from 2015 F1 season.

McLaren started their alliance with Mercedes in 1995, and they are took three times drivers championship and one times constructors title.

The Japanese automotive giant has not contended in Formula 1 since closing its works team at the end of 2008, but has decided to return as a result of the change to 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engines.

It is of course not an ideal situation, if a customer goes away, especially when it's someone like McLaren, which is as long driven Mercedes engines and celebrated great successes with us.” Toto Wolff told Speed Week.

“This is of course unpleasant, but that's a decision that has taken so the team, and we look forward principle that an additional competitor comes into the F1. Honda is a top brand and as the saying goes: competition is good for business.

And also the Austrian not expecting more teams switch to Honda power for upcoming season. “No, I think there is anyway only a limited ability to deliver customer teams. For us, this is somewhere between three and four teams, and we are confident that we will launch in the coming years, with at least three teams in Formula 1.”
