Button fastest on opening day of 2013 first pre-season test at Jerez


McLaren’s Jenson Button set top fastest lap-time on the first day of 2013 Formula 1 first pre-season test at Jerez. The Brit set best lap-time the final minutes of the session with 1:18.861.

Early session of today morning Jenson Button was discontinue his running following successive three laps due to fuel-pump failure. Last year Lewis Hamilton forced out from the Abu Dhabi GP following similar trouble.

Red Bull’s Mark Webber set second fastest lap-time with a 1m19.709s. Morning session top runner Lotus’s Romain Grosjean's took third fastest lap-time ahead of Force India’s Paul di Resta.

Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo set fifth fastest lap with 1:20.401 ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. Sauber’s new recruit Nico Hulkenberg manage seventh fastest.

Mercedes’s Nico Rosberg set eighth fastest lap-time in morning session of running, German done eleven laps in the first session. But new W04 was troubled with electrical fault caused small flames on the car. Following team confirms that their first day running skip due to this trouble.

Pastor Maldonado managed ninth fastest ahead of Caterham’s Giedo van der Garde and Marussia’s Max Chilton. Williams the only team running with modified last year machine.
