Perez gets five places grid penalty for change gearbox


The Mexican Sergio Perez will drop five places on the grid penalty for tomorrow Australian GP following the gearbox was changed on his Sauber following qualifying.

The Sauber F1’s Perez was not capable to entire a timed lap during Q2 for the reason that of gearbox trouble and as a result qualified in 17th on the grid. Following the team decided to replace the 2012 Sauber F1’s Gearbox. The ensuing penalty means the Mexican will line up in 22nd on the Melbourne grid.

Kimi Raikkonen, Caterham’s Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov, and Virgin team mates Timo Glock and Charles Pic all gain from Perez’s drop down the order.
