Lewis Hamilton presently in the ending year of his deals with the McLaren and even if both parties have hints that they are eager to extending their continuing affiliation, they are determined not to "rush" into a new contract.
“I think if he doesn’t perform this year he’d be looking maybe to move on and the team may be also looking for him to move on,” said Formula One’s chief executive, adding that he did not believe Hamilton would remain at McLaren his whole career.
Formula 1 Supremo Ecclestone last year labelled Hamilton’s association with Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment a “disaster” and he was once again dismissive of the job Fuller is doing for him.
“I spoke to him [Hamilton] the other day,” Ecclestone said. “I think he’s got a bit more focused. I don’t agree people he’s got surrounding him and so-called managing him - I think he doesn’t need that sort of management.”
Asked what he did need, Ecclestone said: “Someone with their feet on the ground.”
Ecclestone was speaking at a press conference to declare a new multi-year deal with Indian company, Tata Communications, to be F1’s technological partner, repeated that he was “100 per cent” confident that the Bahrain GP would take place, adding that no team or sponsor had expressed any concerns to him.
