Vettel: “In the beginning it was like driving on ice”

Sebastian Vettel acknowledge himself pleased with sets the best time in free practice for the Canadian GP although he admitted that high tyre wear and dirty track situation made it hard to stay on the road. Vettel, who set the top time of the day in the second session, says it will take some time to lay down sufficient rubber on the track to make situation easier to drive.

"It was probably more like rallycross than Formula 1, but we'll see how it goes on Saturday and Sunday," said Vettel. "Obviously this type of track starts off very 'green', so it should improve by Sunday."

Even though Vettel declared the circuit was 'like driving on ice' at times, he thinks Red Bull can have a competitive weekend.

"In the beginning it was like driving on ice. I expect if there is no rain it will be quite a bit better tomorrow and Sunday. Friday's result is not that important, but it's looking not too bad. I think we are quite competitive, so let's see."
