Lewis Hamilton downplays McLaren benefit

Lewis Hamilton is speeding up to no conclusions after McLaren locked out the first practice session in Barcelona on Friday morning. With the Working-built cars having go down to fifth and ninth during the afternoon. Even though Lewis led the way in the first of two 90-minute perform periods at Spanish GP Circuit de Catalunya, the British man wound up 1.2 seconds off Sebastian Vettel's pace in the afternoon, `top some to consider that McLaren were sandbagging in the second practice session.

"It was quite windy today, so, despite running right through our programme, we struggled a little bit, particularly at the end when we changed to the Option (Soft compound) tyre and encountered a bit of traffic," Lewis began.

The new parts have surely given us a step forward but we don't yet know how big that step is evaluated to our competitors. Usually, but, the car doesn't suffer too badly. Expectantly, we'll be able to make some further setup changes overnight, too. Tomorrow we'll just be focusing on our programme, pushing the envelope, and analyzing everything we can to make sure we're as competitive as we can possibly be.
