Jenson Button pleased for better speed of McLaren

Existing World Champion Jenson Button was satisfied to find out that McLaren could competitively race Red Bull in Istanbul , with himself and team-mate Lewis Hamilton having shaded the championship-leading cars before taking the benefit in the Constructors' Championship themselves. Jenson started fourth position but lost a place to Michael Schumacher on the primary lap before retaking the spot at Turn 12, the same location where first the Red Bulls came together and later he began to steal the lead from Hamilton.

"I got the run down into Turn 12, on the outside, and I had to have a go, really," Button told.

"We were wheel-to-wheel for about five curves, it was good fun but then Lewis got back past into Turn 1. I was in fuel save mode as well but, after racing with the Red Bulls, we had to save a bit at the end. The pace was very good in the race, us four were up front and pretty close for most of the race. I don't know what happened with Mark and Sebastian but it opened the door for us and pace of the car was good.”

"Also with Michael on the first lap, a fun race and I have to say great job to whole team - they've done a fantastic job improving this car and we're much closer to the Red Bulls now."
