Virgin Racing pace VR-01 at Silverstone

Next Wednesday’s online initiate of the VR-01, Virgin Racing’s 2010 campaign took a different step onward on Thursday what time the car completed its maiden track run. Driver Timo Glock was thrilling with giving his 2010 machine its debut at Silverstone, whilst team mate Lucas di Grassi - and assembled guests - watched from the UK circuit’s sidelines.Timo Glock was thrilled with his first taste of the car, told: It was a unbelievable moment for my part and the whole team to see the VR-01 come alive. It’s huge to be back in a racing car.

Virgin Racing’s technical director, Nick Wirth, said: After 10 challenging months, all the assurance and willpower has lastly paid off. Today was all about those uncertain first few steps but the programmed actually gets happening tomorrow with a full day of on-track assessment for both Timo and Lucas.The team, one of four new squads joining the grid this year, will carry on their Silverstone shakedown on Friday, before adventure to Jerez, Spain, for next week’s four-day, multi-team test.
