Nick Heidfeld joins to Mercedes GP for test driver role

Nick Heidfeld has this morning been set as the official test driver for the Mercedes GP team. The German had been in the casing for a race seat at the recently renamed Brawn group awaiting the deal was done to take back Michael Schumacher, and in spite of in fact having options on the bench with one or more of the new teams, and rumor linking him to the Renault drive that has now gone to Vitaly Petrov, Heidfeld has unsuccessful to find a viable race seat for 2010.
