A Formula One Christmas Gift : High-tech driving simulators available to public
Exhausted the Xbox? Dutch firm Cruden B.V., designer and builder of interactive motion-based racing simulators, is offering its Hexatech F1 driving simulators to the public, just in time for Christmas. "Let's be clear: This is not a video game linked up to a steering wheel, race seat and pedals," says Frank Kalff, Cruden's commercial director. "Our simulator and the software it uses cannot be bought in a store." But they can be purchased directly from Cruden starting at $190,000 for a base simulator package. The units offer realistic g-force simulation, seat belt tensioners and accurate steering feedback, and drivers can choose between three wraparound screens or stereo projectors to view their virtual driving domain. Tired of watching dad appropriate the car to drive his choice of track? Make sure he orders a three-seater so the kids can tag along
