Formula 1 champion Jenson Button has appear 2nd in a sportsman of the year poll voted for by European journalists.The European Sports Press Union voted Roger Federer as the winner of the yearly award, the Swiss tennis player scored 135 points to Button's has 85. The award is voted for by journalists from a number of European top news agencies and has been won by Michael Schumacher on four occasions in the past.
It is the 2nd end-of-year award Button has missed out on as winning his 2009 title with Brawn GP. Button has also came second in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year award earlier this month. He will, however, be on the Queen's New Year's honours list for an MBE.
